Mr Yule “cut the ribbon” on Diana Henderson’s book “Earn $50,000 per year as a House Spouse” at the Hawke's bay show yesterday. Mrs Henderson has been working on the book for about seven years. She says she has been learning all her married life "how to work smarter not harder, to make her money go further. Launching the book, Mr Yule said it covered everything with practical hints for budgeting, dealing with banks, conmen and sharks paying of the mortgage sooner, and baking. “It s a fantastic resource for families and good for public libraries and schools. “And its even better that someone from Hawke’s Bay wrote it.” Mrs Henderson is well known for her ideas and schemes for making the budget go further. In July she disagreed with an Otago University study which said it cost $245 a week to feed a family of four. Using the supermarket advertising flyers which come though every letterbox, Mrs Henderson worked out that a family of four could be fed well on $130 a week, especially if the vegetables were supplemented with home grown ones or bought from a roadside stall rather than the supermarket. - Hawke’s Bay Today, 25 October 2002Read Other HomeMaking News
